In September, German carmakers launched an alliance with mobile telecoms network equipment firms to accelerate development of the infrastructure needed for self-driving cars. The new alliance, branded the 5G Automotive Association, will “develop, test and promote communications solutions, support standardisation and accelerate commercial availability and global market penetration,” the founders said in a statement. Bureau Veritas currently works together with several connected vehicle organizations such as the USDOTOmniAirCVTA, Car-2-Car Communication Consortium or CCC for MirrorLinkand welcomes the foundation of the 5GAA, which especially leverages next generation mobile network technologies.
