Jun. 21 2017

Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, June 20, 2017 – Bureau Veritas has acquired California Code Check, Inc., a US company specialized in construction code compliance and building safety.

Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Los Angeles, California Code Check provides third-party code compliance plan review and inspection services for municipalities. Its customer base consists of approximately 30 cities and counties in California from Los Angeles to San Francisco. The company employs 31 people and generated revenue of €3.7 million in 2016.

California Code Check strengthens Bureau Veritas’ presence in the California Central Coast, and solidifies Bureau Veritas’ position as a market leader in construction code compliance and inspection throughout the state.

Bureau Veritas’ Chief Executive Officer Didier Michaud-Daniel commented:

"California is definitely a priority market to develop Bureau Veritas' Building & Infrastructure business. The largest state in the US has solid growth prospects in construction and a significant potential in outsourcing of building permits by local authorities. California Code Check is a perfect example of our selective bolt-on acquisition strategy, enabling us to move faster to attractive market niches in strategic geographic areas."

Thomas Harris, California Code Check’s President, added:

“We are excited to be joining the Bureau Veritas organization, and look forward to expanding the scope and geographic range that we can now offer to clients. With service capabilities outside of the traditional construction code compliance offering, our valued clients now have access to a wide array of technical expertise and services, delivered by a global leader in testing, inspection and certification.”
