Introducing: Beatrice Scharneck

Working at BV means choosing to work for a company that positively impacts the day-to-day lives of billions of people. How are BV experts in South Africa contributing to that ambition?

Bureau Veritas South Africa is constantly giving back to the community that we work and live in. I am proud to work for a company like this. To see how international companies give back to communities is heartwarming. Not only do they support through donations, they also have a passion for helping the nation develop. We are constantly supporting unemployed individuals and those just beginning to learn about our industry, providing them with tuition and workplace experience. In doing this, BV helps create leaders for the future.

In a few lines, could you describe your career path and your position at BV?

I started my career at Bureau Veritas in 2009 as a Petrography assistant working in a lab. I was then promoted to receptionist and got my first position in HR in 2013. I became the District HR Manager in 2017 and am still learning every day. I am currently busy with my MBA, which I will complete in August 2021.

What is your greatest professional achievement at BV?

My greatest achievement was launching the Mandela month campaign, which turned into the Employees Building Community initiative. We also supported our employees during the COVID-19 pandemic by making sure all employees were financially and psychologically supported.

What would you say to a candidate considering a career with BV?

Bureau Veritas is a leader in Testing, Inspection and Certification. They constantly promote internal growth and the development of not only their staff, but people in surrounding communities as well. They are passionate about creating leaders for the future. I am proud to say that I work for such a sustainable organization.
