Bureau Veritas has certified the Expo 2020 Dubai Event Sustainability Management System according to ISO 20121:2012. This demonstrates how Expo 2020 is working to improve sustainability throughout the entire event management cycle.
Through the certification, Expo 2020 Dubai made a strong statement about the importance of sustainability in their event management approach.
ISO 20121 is a standard which is suitable for all sizes and types of events and relevant to all members of the event industry supply chain. The standard describes a management system for organizers to identify the negative social, economic and environmental impacts of events. It is aligned with United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals in terms of well-being, equality, clean water, clean energy, economic growth, sustainable cities, responsible consumption, climate, reduced inequalities and inclusive societies.
Bureau Veritas supports its clients to ensure that their assets, products, infrastructure and processes meet standards and regulations in terms of quality, health and safety, environmental protection and social responsibility. This collaboration with Expo 2020 Dubai further illustrates how sustainability plays a critical role in every aspect of an event, during construction and operation, benefiting the event’s partners, guests and society as a whole.
"Connecting Minds, Creating the Future" is the theme of Dubai 2020 exhibition, which started on October 1 and will end on March 31, 2022.
Bureau Veritas is a partner of France’s pavilion. Bureau Veritas Dubai carried out the technical work required to ensure the French pavilion complies with the best professional practices and all applicable regulations. In addition, Bureau Veritas provided technical assistance with environmental quality and social and environmental responsibility for the France’s pavilion. These services covered the entire lifecycle of the pavilion, from the design review stage to overseeing construction and right through to dismantling the building.
