Staying One Step Ahead: Anna Prudnikova on the Future of Cybersecurity

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Bureau Veritas? 
My name is Anna Prudnikova, and I'm the Head of International Cybersecurity Services in EMEA for Bureau Veritas. I'm based in the Netherlands, where we have the headquarters of Secura – BV's center of competence for cybersecurity. 

Could you walk us through your career path? 
I've been working in the field of cybersecurity for the past 12 years now. When I first started, the concept of cybersecurity was new, with the focus limited to information security. In the past 5 years, I've been working at BV (contracted via Secura), and my focus has shifted from pure IT security towards OT and IoT security. 

I'm an engineer at heart, with three master's degrees in engineering and computer science, including cybersecurity. I like to learn how things work, and the industrial world provides the kind of challenge that I like to address. Most of my career has been in consultancy, working closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored services. 

What does your current position at Bureau Veritas entail? 
Currently, I'm in charge of developing BV's cybersecurity business internationally, with a focus on EMEA. My responsibilities include both business development and overseeing the technical delivery of cybersecurity services that BV provides in the EMEA region through Secura. My goal is to strengthen the connection between Secura and BV, offering our customers a comprehensive package of services ranging from safety to cybersecurity. 

How does Bureau Veritas' cybersecurity services align with sustainability goals? 
We work extensively with green energy companies, providing cybersecurity services to businesses in offshore wind, hydrogen, and other sustainable energy sources. These are key focus areas for our industrial clients. As safety is now inseparable from cybersecurity, I believe that BV is offering a strong portfolio of services to support companies focusing on sustainable energy, thus contributing to a greener future. 

What do you enjoy the most about working in the cybersecurity sector? 
I'm proud of the work I'm doing because it contributes to making the world a safer and more secure place for everyone. As the world becomes increasingly digital, cybercriminals are moving from organized crime in the physical world to the digital realm. This trend will continue to increase in the future, and we need to stay one step ahead. I feel I'm part of a positive change for society and the world in general.
