Could you describe in a few lines your career path at BV? How did you get where you are?

After completing my degree studies in the UK, I joined Bureau Veritas’ Head Office in Paris for a work placement as a Finance Systems and Processes Consultant in 2000. After participating in different projects worldwide involving mainly acquisitions, I was appointed CFO for Portugal in 2004 in order to participate in the integration of the recently acquired RINAVE Group. In 2007, I joined the Bureau Veritas Spain team, at first as a Financial Controller and since 2011 as CFO of South West Europe. During that period, I have also held other positions at the Group and European levels.

What were you looking for when you applied to BV? Why did you choose BV at that time?

Working in a French Multinational with such a record and projection of growth, internally and through its acquisitions, can offer many opportunities in Finance and other different fields. I was also looking forward to experiencing life abroad by working in different countries, Bureau Veritas was the perfect fit, and I still think it is now.

Could you describe your first days at BV? What was your overall impression/feeling?

At that time, the size and the worldwide footprint of Bureau Veritas were already impressive to me. Starting from the interviews held during the selection process, I found the project very interesting and dynamic but also the teams were very enthusiastic.

What is your greatest professional achievement at BV?

I would definitely say: becoming the CFO of South West Europe and a key player in the Europe Operating Group finance team.

And the biggest challenge you had to face?

In 2012 and due to the lack of public investment, we had to resize and divest the infrastructure activity in Spain, which I never expected to experience in Bureau Veritas. It was a great challenge and a success story thanks to a tremendous effort from the whole top management team in Spain.

Were you expecting to be offered so many development opportunities at BV?

I will soon have been working at Bureau Veritas for 20 years and I have to say that the development opportunities offered have not just lived up to, but have far exceeded my initial expectations.

Working at BV is choosing a company positively impacting the day-to-day lives of billions of people. How do you feel about that?

I have benefited a lot from working in the finance department of a company with such strong ethics and values with a particular focus on Health, Safety and the Environment, because I have included these same values into my personal way of living.

If you had to choose 3 words to describe your daily work, what would they be?

Teamwork, Challenge, Continuous improvement

What would you say to a candidate considering a career at BV?

If you are looking for an international experience in a multinational company, BV is your company. Besides fluently speaking four languages, from a professional point of view I gained a global vision and knowledge of the organization which enables me to solve problems with the support of a worldwide network. From a personal one, understanding and accepting diversity helped me to become a more open-minded and tolerant person.

After 20 years of great experiences over numerous positions and countries, I still look forward to new challenges and opportunities in BV.
